Our family white water rafting trips let you sit back and relax as our guides take over entertaining your kids! At Adrift we specialise in white water rafting for kids. We’ll ensure that your kids are having the time of their lives, but also make sure they are learning about the river and taking safety seriously.
We tailor each trip to the specific needs of your family – whether you have a family full of adventurers or first-time rafters, we will ensure you have one of the best days ever on the River Nile.
Rafting with Adrift you get so much more safety, fun, enjoyment and service.
Rafting and any water activities on the Nile comprises of getting wet! Wearing adequate clothing for this and to also protect you from the sun is important. Draw string shorts help to keep your modesty intact if you have swim in the fast currents! Full piece bathing suits are the preferred choice for women as bikinis can become compromised when navigating the rapids. We suggest all our rafters to not wear shoes in the raft, as these can be lost in the water.
Wearing contact glasses should not stop you enjoying a rafting experience but be prepared they may become a part of the River Nile if you should enjoy a flip! We advise people (who wear contacts) not to sit near the front of the boat and to wear sunglasses but please note that you will need a tight strap and we do NOT provide these.
*Your travel insurance should specify cover for Whitewater rafting.
*Bring lots of sunscreen and keep applying this during the day!
*We recommend you take a small bag with a towel and a change of clothes for the end of the day, this will be kept on our vehicle and meet you at the finish point.
It is summer all year-round in Uganda. The country straddles the equator which means there is no winter and non summer and you can come at any time of the year. Temperatures in most parts of the country vary between 25°C and 30°C (77°F and 86°F) dropping only by 5°C overnight. Traditionally May and November are the wetter months in the country where morning cloud build – ups are followed by torrential rain and spectacular thunder and lightening shows. 99% of Ugandans do not own raincoats because the storms are usually short……………

Rafting is an adventure sport so there is an inherent element of risk, however, we have spent over 30 years rafting rivers around the world minimising that risk. We could not have done better than nature in designing the perfect river for rafting.

We did the "beginner" package which is perfect for small kids (1hrs30 to 2hrs), few rapids only. Well organized, good material, friendly staff - Alexandre
Great fun with the kids ages 9 and 11. Plenty of age appropriate adventure. Thanks!! We will do it again soon. - Jason
Great day out on the river with the family! Around 30 min bus drive from our hotel to the start site where we had a safety briefing, and then 2 hours on the river paddling through couple of lighter whitewaters, we got to jump in to the water and swim in the stream. Our youngest was 5 years old and oldest child 19 years, and they all had a great time on the water. Instructors were professional but fun, and looked after us very well with safety paddlers behind each boat. I would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Jinja, as its a great outing in a beautiful environment. - Ann
