Located on roughly six hectares on Kalagala Island, Wildwaters Lodge lies on a unique private island mid-stream within the mighty River Nile in Uganda: around 25km downstream from Jinja in eastern Uganda. It’s in a sublime location and only reached by boat which makes it a very adventurous place to stay. It is uniquely perched on granite rocks with dramatic and exciting rapids roaring all around.
Visits to the island are limited to overnight stays, however, with Adrift Adventures we have designed a lunch experience on the private island.
The sounds on the mighty Nile are quite hypnotic and calming so Wildwaters offers an experience for all the senses.
Return boat transfers, entry fees to the WWL reserve. 3 course meal (excluding beverages), 1 bottle of house wine per table, swimming pool use.
Lunch guests are welcome on the Island between 11 am – 4 pm.
Pre-booking and pre payment is required.
Without a confirmed lunch reservation, access to the island will be denyed for safety and security reasons
No children under 12 years are allowed on the island
In order to safeguard the natural inhabitants on the island, NO food or drink is allowed to be brought onto the island.
Pets are strictly not allowed.
As my wife was celebrating her 40th birthday, I brought her over for lunch together with 3 other friends at the lodge. I have been at that lodge 5 times. Two times sleeping as a guest (one when it was wildwaters lodge and the last time when it is lemala lodge) and three times with teams escorting them to come and have lunch and have recommended several friends. Here is my honest feedback. First, the food portions had improved unlike in the past when food cooked would not satisfy you. This time we had enough to even pack and take home. On the other side, the price increased a lot almost 4 times. I expected the service to improve by far to match the price and I came excited however, besides the nice renovations that were done, this was my worst experience. I want to be honest with you. I don't plan coming back or even recommending someone. The meals were not up to that standard a $15meal at cafe javas was better than the food you offered. It seems the chef was changed. Upon arrival, in the past, we would be welcomed by waiters at the dock with a glass of juice, this time it was a guard who was nice to us that took us around. I found out that that service is rendered to only residents. It appears that you don't want day pass visitors to come. Besides showing us where we were to sit and a toilet( not shower where we could change our clothes in case we wanted to swim. No one offered to show us around the facility, especially the other falls down which had a better view like they did for us in the past. I did not swim because I would like to shower after swimming and I could not just get in the toilet and simply dry off. I don't write reviews and this is my first review, I hope it reaches someone and you can make changes. It was very expensive and not worth my money. - Wilfred
